Lina Scheynius

I recently discovered this photographer that I'm a big fan of, Lina Scheynius. I discovered her through Flickr and today I finally had time to go through her website and see all of her pictures. She also has a section there, of FAQ, where she answered many of my the questions I had in my mind. For example, she uses an OLYMPUS MJU ii or her Canon SLR, to shoot; she loves the film Ilford Delta B&W; she is from Sweden but lives in between Paris and London; she hates Digital; and the part that I most love --- she photographs who is important in her life.

Lina also takes a lot of self-portraits, and has diaries in her website, very worth taking a look.

An inspiration.

Here are some of her pictures that I most loved:

She never went to Photography school, but was always surrounded my photographers, including her father.

"Castles in the Sky" by Taylor Steele

I recently found out that a new movie by Taylor Steele came out in May in the Tribeca Film Festival. I wish I had known about this before. He is the same director/producer of "Sipping Jetstreams", the surf movie I most love. Inspiring, and all about traveling. Here is the trailer for his new movie, very hard to find, called: "Castles in the Sky".

If you know where I can find it, please let me know.

-Its shot in 16mm.

Here are some of their new destinations: Peru, Iceland, India, and Africa.

Ibi Ibrahim Photography

I am shooting and producing a documentary by Mariana Ferreira Goncalves, and we will be following Ibi.

Ibi is a Yemeni photographer who is now studying film at the New School. He was born in a Muslim household and now lives in New York City. His photography portrays stories he heard throughout his childhood and teenage years, usually dealing with the challenges and sexuality in the Muslim culture.

He mostly photographs in Black & White. His photo shoots are staged, usually in his rooftop or garden in the East Village.

Ibi is a sweet and outgoing young man, and I'm happy I can get to know a bit more about the story behind his art.

More pictures can be seen at his WEBSITE.
