The Ninth Floor by Jessica Dimmock

The most beautiful piece of work!

In an apartment above Fifth Avenue, some thirty young people live in a vortex of drug addiction and despair. In The Ninth Floor, Jessica Dimmock enters this world, exploring, in human terms, what has been lost and what may be recovered. See the project at http://mediastorm.com/publication/the-ninth-floor

Wasteland (Lixo Extraordinario)

A beautiful documentary.

Vik Muniz, a well-know Brazilian Photographer has the idea of photographing Trash Collectors in Jardin Gramacho in Rio de Janeiro, and selling his pictures, donating all the profit to their community. They live in the middle of the trash, trash that comes from the richest and the poorest people. They do it not only for the money, but to help their country, their family. They live in the dirty, in the stinky, work day and night, separating materials and re-selling them for their salary.

I posted something about this film recently, but now that I watched it, I love it more.

The characters are beautiful, you connect with them. You laugh. You cry. You will want to meet them, know about how they are, where they went after the film. You will love them.

And you will find out, how your trash can become someones art!

PLEASE: R E C Y C L E !
Tiao, one of the trash collectors said after he met Vik Muniz, "Now I don't collect trash - I collect recyclable materials!"

So worth watching!!!

Fading Borders

Dear Friends & Fellow Filmmakers,

I'm currently Producing a Feature Length documentary that needs a lot of help. In conjunction with Nicolas Cuellar (director) Borja Campillo (dp), Julian Diaz Merino (2nd Unit Camera) and Felipe Duarte (Sound & Music Composer), we formed the MERCEDES TOURING LLC. Now,  we need sponsorship, funding, and any help whatsoever possible.

The Doc is about a couple (Mathieu de Genot & Patricio Aguirre), who want to drive their dream car (that took them 3 years to find), a Mercedes Benz 300 SE, back home (In Equador), from NYC.

We decided to borrow their dream, and follow them in this journey. But it won't be possible unless we can have some money to help us in this Journey.

Please send to your friends, co-workers, or anyone whom you think might be interested. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

"Castles in the Sky" by Taylor Steele

I recently found out that a new movie by Taylor Steele came out in May in the Tribeca Film Festival. I wish I had known about this before. He is the same director/producer of "Sipping Jetstreams", the surf movie I most love. Inspiring, and all about traveling. Here is the trailer for his new movie, very hard to find, called: "Castles in the Sky".

If you know where I can find it, please let me know.

-Its shot in 16mm.

Here are some of their new destinations: Peru, Iceland, India, and Africa.

"To Die In Jerusalem"

(***)
Directed by: Hilla Medalia

2 Days ago I saw this documentary about 2 girls, one Palestinian, and the other Israeli. One was a suicide bomber, the other one was a student shopping at the local market. Both of them were 17 years old, brunette with dark eyes. Both of them died that day: March 29th, 2002.

Years later, the mothers confront each other.

It was very interesting to see the reality of Israel and Palestine. I had no idea how intense the situation was.

The mother of the Israeli, Abigail, also enters a prison to talk to some Palestinian girls, and try to understand if they feel guilty or not. Abigail just wants PEACE, she doesn't want any other mother to go through what she did.

Worth watching!
